“A person who owns a pencil is one with the ability to create, shape and share his/her own narrative. It is indeed a gift, a true tool of writing and righting”

— Dr Maxine Nwigwe

Change Lives One Pencil at a Time.

The Gift of Writing Foundation is a nonprofit organization with 501©3 exemption. The organization was founded by Dr. Frantz C. Dorsainvil and a group of educators. The goal of the foundation is to collect pencils and other school supplies to donate to children in Haiti. This simplistic idea will make a profound difference in the lives of children.  The GOWF provides meal plan for about 400 children weekly at L’Institution Mimi in Arcahaie, Haiti. As the organization evolved the GOWF developed additional goals such as providing workshops to educators in Haiti, assisting high school students with yearly scholarships and other resources.

The founder has participated in humanitarian work for many years. Most recently after the 7.0 magnitude earthquake devastated Haiti, he co-chaired a committee to collect donations and raised funds to support the Haitian people. He went on a mission for a week caring for the people who were affected by the earthquake

He provided brief counseling, art therapy for children and translated for the medical team. In addition, he has traveled to Rwanda and Tanzania, Africa where he visited orphanages and donated toys and other basic needs to children.

The committee members of The Gift of Writing Foundation are committed to making a difference in the lives of many children and their families. We need your assistance with monetary donations to help support our mission. We believe we can inspire children one pencil at a time!
